Dr. Michael D. Dufresne, D.O.

Dr. Dufresne did his undergraduate training at UNH and completed his medical training at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. He is board certified in Family Practice and integrates Osteopathic Manipulation as part of comprehensive patient care. Dr. Dufresne has a special interest in Women’s Health, including prenatal care and obstetrics.


Dr. Kevin Kenerson, D.O.

Dr. Kenerson is known for making connections with an open-mind, an open heart and good humor. He fosters a collaborative and learning culture, ensuring excellence in patient care and quality outcomes as well as patient and staff satisfaction. As well as a medical physician, Dr. Kenerson is a social entrepreneur ever connecting people, resources and ideas to create initiatives that will enhance the wellness and quality of life of the people in his communities.

As co-founder of Be Well My Friend, Dr. Kenerson, along with Dr Dufresne, built the multi-location Be Well My Friend Integrative Health Center in Augusta and Freeport Maine (the Freeport office has recently closed). Be Well My Friend is a full-service family practice of dedicated, experienced physicians who believe in working with our patients to maintain and improve their health. Both physicians are board certified in family practice and offer osteopathic manipulation as part of their comprehensive care. BWMF believes in educating patients as they work with them to achieve the best physical state possible. BWMF offers a wide range of family health and recovery, nutrition and diabetes management BWMF also offers certification for the use of medical marijuana under requirements established by the Maine Medical Marijuana Law.

BWMF’s holistic philosophy, integrative and collaborative approach to individual, family and community health has led Dr. Kenerson to develop further initiatives and establish organizations to perform research, education, direct primary care practice (non-insurance), behavioral health and recovery services, a 501C to serve the health care needs of the poor among us, and a trade organization to facilitate the exchange of goods and services between people and community business.

Brett Adell, LCSW

A lifelong resident of Maine, Brett Adell joined Be Well My Friend in early 2019 as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Brett is an outpatient clinician providing counseling for individuals needing help managing a variety of mental health issues and life struggles. He implements a psychodynamic approach to encourage people to understand their own life experiences and emotions to help them recognize their impact on the present. Brett utilizes a wide range of therapeutic approaches, as no single treatment type is right for everyone. His primary modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a goal-oriented treatment that focuses on helping people change thought patterns that cause unhealthy, unproductive, or incapacitating behaviors. Brett works both short-and long-term with a variety of populations from children to elderly adults. Prior to joining BWMF, Brett worked in private practice and Crisis Intervention.

Brett graduated with his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Emmanuel College in 2007 and obtained his Master’s degree in Social Work in 2009. Brett is a compassionate, loyal, reliable, and witty practitioner who enjoys incorporating humor and laughter into his treatment.     


Jennifer Marlowe, LCPC

Jennifer Marlowe, LCPC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that joined Be Well My Friend in September 2021. Jennifer is an outpatient clinician who focuses on working with adults, children, and families who need assistance with managing mental health and life difficulties. Jennifer has worked for the last twenty three years specializing in dual diagnosis with addiction related issues. Jennifer works with addressing depression, trauma, anxiety, self worth, relationships/attachment, and addiction. Jennifer helps her clients by being warm and relational in her approach. Jennifer provides a supportive presence while enhancing internal resources. Jennifer practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Narrative therapy approaches to help people change unhealthy thought patterns that result in negative thinking patterns and related behaviors.  Clients often say they feel safe and supported even in their most vulnerable states. She offers genuine curiosity and non-judgment of your experience. She is very knowledgeable in her field of psychotherapy and she delivers this experience in a carefully sequenced and effective way.

Jennifer graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from California State University Northridge in 1994 and completed her Master’s of Counseling and Educational Psychology in 1998. She has been a licensed clinician for the last 12 years holding independent licensure in Hawaii and Maine.
